Background

Background and Experience

Casey McGrath-Bahar is currently a professor of Applied Music Studies at Lewis University in Romeoville, maintains a private studio of students in all age ranges, and most recently has joined the founding faculty of the Drew Lecher String Academy in Naperville, Il.

A committed recitalist, Casey performs frequently in the Chicago area and is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Musical Arts in performance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she is a student of Prof. Stefan Milenkovich.

Casey completed her Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance at Butler University's Jordan College of Fine Arts in Indianapolis as a student of Prof. Larry Shapiro. She received her Master of Music degree in performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in 2007, studying with Kurt Sassmannshaus and Brittany MacWilliams. She is also a student of Drew Lecher.

While at Butler, Casey held principal positions with the Butler Symphony Orchestra and was an active member of the Jordan College of Fine Arts Composer's Orchestra, the New Millennium Philharmonic, and the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, as well as a regular substitute for the Lafayette, Kokomo and Marion Symphony Orchestras.
International festivals and orchestras that Casey has performed with include the Symphony Orchestra of the Pacific, Canada, and the Opera Theater and Music Festival of Lucca, Italy. Closer to home—the New Philharmonic, and Northwest Indiana Symphony orchestras. She has
performed as soloist with the Metropolitan Youth Symphony and the Fox Valley Philharmonic, serving as the Phil's concertmaster for both its 2008 and 2009 seasons.
